Reviews:

The brand new release from invino’s founders, this 2013 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is tasting great right out the gates.  Showing a bright nose of raspberry, maraschino cherry, cloves and cinnamon, the wine is varietally correct and very drinkable.  A zesty acidity holds up a fresh and lively palate of red cherry, cranberry and crushed plum, with hints of bramble and tobacco on the finish.  The texture is soft and lush, but the wine should hold up well to a few years in the cellar, as it drinks even better on day two.  Enjoy now through 2020. - DZ Jan 6, 2015

When putting together the blend for this I wanted to get a bit more stuffing in the mid palate so we added some new oak pinot to the blend which gave this a nice richness in the mid palate.  It has a beautiful color in the glass with nice layers of cherry cola, some spice and hints of strawberry on the nose.  It is very young of course, but still drinking great now.  The tannin structure is already well integrated and it is a nice acid profile, something I always insist on.  Moderate complexity in the mid palate, I expect that this will grow with time.  Fruity and approachable now, I expect this to evolve over 5-7 years and be drinkable the entire time.  I am very pleased with our most recent offering.  I won't give this a rating as I am biased, but I hope you enjoy it. - Tony Westfall

Why We're Drinking It:

$0 Shipping Selection (3+ bottles)

A brand new release from invino founders, and the BEST vintage yet for this succulent Pinot Noir!

On the heels of the vintage Parker deemed "the best ever for Sonoma Coast Pinot", this is a truly classic Pinot. Sourced from a few of the Westfall’s favorite sites for Pinot the fruit was selected for their regional personalities along the cool Sonoma Coast. The climate of this AVA includes brisk breezes off the Pacific Ocean and regular influx of thick fog, which—when joined by daytime temperatures ideal for ripening Pinot Noir to perfection—results in tremendous complexity and balance. In short, our Tasting Panel thinks the Westfall’s should consider changing the name to C’est Magnifique!

This wine is bright, glowing cherry red with aromas of berry, cinnamon and subtle cola. On the palate this wine is moderately acidic with hints of vanilla oak and layers of strawberry and dark cherry fruit. Not only approachable now, this wine is screaming to be popped alongside salmon, chicken or beef, and is stupendous with a cheese plate, too.

Reasons We Love It:

invino founders Danielle and Tony Westfall have roots a long way back in Sonoma County, which means amazing access to some of the region’s best fruit!

When chooses grapes for their own label, the Westfalls were sticklers, picking only Dijon clones for their Pinot Noir and insisting on a slow fermentation and aging in oak.

In general, California Pinot Noirs are some of the most expensive bottles going. C’est Bon is offered to Members at a price that is next to unheard of. Looking for a House Pinot? This is the one.

From invino Founders, Tony & Danielle Westfall:

When we started in the wine industry well over a decade ago, it was always our dream to have our own label. C’est Bon has been on the drawing board for several years, and we actually trademarked the brand name soon after we launched invino. Anybody who had taken entry-level French knows that the literal interpretation of C’est Bon is "It's good," and that’s what we strive for. Every bottle of C’est Bon is good; we wouldn’t put our name on it if we didn’t think so.

This is our inaugural release, a Pinot Noir from three fantastic vineyards on the Sonoma Coast. We will continue to bottle good wine that we think meets the standard of quality for the brand. We hope you enjoy it.

Tasting Notes:

Cool climate Pinot Noir that retains all of the beauty of the varietal. A bit more forward, and elegant than the 2012. Showing bright garnet in the glass, with layers emerging one by one, it refocuses with supple tannins that carry the wine through to a lingering, dark berry, succulent finish.

Native fermentation.  Cellared 11 months sur lie in cooperage, 25% new.
