Reviews:

The return of one of our favorite wineries, Parmelee's 2015 Pinot Noir is showing as fresh as ever. Jammy strawberry & earl grey nose. Medium bodied on the palate, showing dried raspberry, potpourri and rose petals. Drinking now through 2022. 92 Points - JZ Oct '18

Why We're Drinking It:

Grapes from Parmelee Hill Vineyards are sold to wineries like Kistler, Loring, Orin Swift and Patz and Hall—with a small amount of fruit held back to be labeled under the house name. Considering this Pinot tiny 175-case production, we were thrilled to purchase an allocation for Members.

This 2015 estate-grown Pinot Noir won a Gold Medal and “exceptional” designation from tasting.com, which wrote: “Fruity aromas of cherry jam, maraschino liqueur, coriander, and black pepper with a satiny, crisp, dry-yet-fruity light-to-medium body… A lush satisfying Sonoma Pinot with ripe fruits and a toasty finish. It also scored a Gold Medal from the Sonoma County Harvest Fair. Even without these accolades, we’d have no trouble convincing Members to try this Exclusive offering, as Parmelee Hill wines never languish in our warehouse nor anyplace else.

·    The 2015 vintage for Sonoma County Pinot Noir was rated 92 points or “Outstanding”  by the Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator alike.

·    Coveted Parmelee Hill is owned by Steve Hill, consultant of Durell Vineyards. The “Parmelee” in this estate’s name is thanks to Steve’s wife, Gwen Parmelee.

·    Because of its varied topography and proximity to both the San Pablo Bay and the coast, Parmelee Hill Vineyard offers perfect conditions for both warm and cool-weather varieties, with Pinot Noir prospering in the fog-enshrouded blocks.

·    The winery at Parmelee Hill is set up so that the freshly picked grapes travel along the sorting tables by gravity only, a gentler method than pumping and one that results in intact, juicy berries gleaming with good health and fresh Pinot juice.

Tasting Notes:

From the winery:

Fruity aromas of cherry jam, black pepper and cranberry fruit. Well integrated tannins and a suggestion of French Oak. A lush satisfying Sonoma Pinot with ripe fruits and a toasty finish.

The Story to Know:

From the winery:

Parmelee-Hill Vineyards decided in 2001 to begin making a limited amount of high-end syrah under our own label. We have since added other wine varieties. To make the type of wine we wanted meant sourcing a winemaker of the highest caliber to help achieve our stylistic goals. We found him in Don Van Staaveren of Chateau St. Jean fame and Don continues to help and advise in the making of every Parmelee-Hill wine.

Perfect Pairings:

Pair this with any spicy Asian cuisine or a lighter red meat dish.
